Hello to Team Louisville and everyone on the forum, I'm here loaded with questions about joining the team, as I think I could make a splash in some Cat 5 races and perhaps even upgrade. In either case, I'm eager to try...
For starters, I am already a licensed Cat 5, but I am very new to the sport, with only 2 races under my belt. I haven't raced since April, but I have been training really hard lately and I'm hoping for a decent placing in Tour de London in September. I think I could benefit from the experience of team mates for that race and in the future.
First, is Team Louisville interested in bringing new people on at all? Second, I've heard you normally only accept new members in the fall, but might make exceptions for people who are already licensed/have previous racing experience. Is that true? And third, if you would be willing to bring on more members and do it mid-season, how would I go about it? I've already filled out the website application, but I never heard back. Is there anyone I can talk to?
Thanks, Jon

Hey Jon, Sorry you didn't get a response the first time you inquired...it may have been inadvertantly missed. I'll see some of the other team leaders tonight and fill them in on your interest. We're definitely always looking for new racers. Our policy is that each potential new rider is referred and endorsed by a current team member. We do that by meeting and riding with potential new members. I'd be happy to get together with you for a training/"get to know ya" ride and answer your questions about the team. We have a set of written member standards I can share with you too.
As for mid-season additions, we have done that a few times, but our policy has been that we primarily look at very experienced Cat. 3 racers, and only those that are referred by a current member.
Let me know your schedule by replying here and we can get together for a ride soon. Keep the rubber side down, Logan McCulloch |

Thanks for the reply. I get what you're saying about mid season, and I wouldn't mind waiting a little while. As for meeting up, my schedule for this week is tentative, but it looks like I'll be doing a couple of hours of Cherokee Park laps on Tuesday afternoon, the Cycler's Cafe Thursday night ride, and either a long haul through Oldham County or Jefferson Memorial Forest on Friday morning, depending on how I feel and how much time I have between class and work. I will be riding this weekend as well, but unfortunately I will be out of town, so meeting up won't be possible. If none of that works, I'm sure we can arrange something next week; being in college rewards me with a flexible schedule. |

| The Thursday evening Cyclers ride may work Jon. If I can't make it, I'll have a teammate hook up with you. Do you have a cell phone #? If you want to email me off the list you can send it to loganmcc@yahoo.com |
